Gender Mainstreaming & Education :
A large number of children are still outside the fold of elementary and early childhood education. There is a wide gap in children’s access to learning facilities in terms of gender, caste, class, ethnicity, and religion. Retention & drop outs, meaningful school participation, learning by children, primarily from the weaker and disadvantaged sections of society, especially the tribal, remains an issue of serious concern.
Child Rights Programme
SWATI continuously working on issues related to Child Rights and Protection. Its intervention in collaboration with Save the Children( Bal Rakhya Bharat) SWATI has been persistent in building internal and external “Child Safe” environments. Our focus lies on improving knowledge, attitude and practice of the children, parents and community on child abuse, female foeticide, child marriage, Sexual Reproductive Health issues of adolescents and gender based violence.
SWATI has been persistent in its effort to address the health needs of Mother and Child in tribal dominated blocks Phiringia, K.Nuagaon, Tikabali & Tumudibandh of Kandhaml District. Due to the poor accessibility to health facilities, unhygienic health practices and incidence of malaria, malnutrition and anemia constitute major health concerns for the women and children in the locality.
SWATI has taken initiative for improving maternal health status as a program with support of National Health Mission(NHM) and Save the Children exclusively in Phiringia block of Kandhamal district. Picking pregnant women from remote pocket Bike Ambulance is being used alongwith Delivery Van to give institutional delivery support to pregnant women in remote pocket on wheel. Besides, Maternity Waiting Home (MWG) “Maa Gruha” is operating to monitor and promote institutional delivery. A Maternal New Born Child Health & Nutrition program to provide support to pregnant and lactate mother and child for addressing Infant Mortality in the area.
